Dear God of Hope and Peace,
Today, we remember the tragedy that paralyzed the world in the shadow of hate on that fateful day, September 11, 2001. That is the day the world, and all Christians, realized the gruesome ugliness of hate. We pause to remember those who lost their lives simply by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. We remember those who lost their lives because they, like your Son, Jesus Christ, rushed in to save lives. We pray, as we remember our loved ones, friends, and heroes, that their lives were not lost in vain, and that we will continue to stand for all the truth that love brings to our earthly existence, as you’ve taught us. We have a lot of work yet to do, so strengthen our resolve to model your way and live as Christ, not as another voice of hate, but as the embodiment of pure love.
In the name above every name, Jesus the Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Grace and peace,
