Theology & Biblical Authority
Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are authoritative for our lives, they are expressed in our traditions, informed by reason, and validated by experience. Theology, our understanding of God, is practical and meant for every day life.
Salvation
Faith in Jesus Christ is the only response necessary for salvation. We are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8).
Trinity
We affirm with orthodox Christians the reality of a triune God in the form of Father God, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus is God (Hebrews 1:3), & God is Jesus (Col. 1:15,19). The Spirit lives in us (Romans 8:9,11; 1 Corinthians 3:16).
Grace
Grace is core to all we understand about who God is. We experience grace uniquely through life experiences. We acknowledge these real experiences as illustrations of God’s prevenient, justifying, & sanctifying grace.
Sacraments
We affirm the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. In baptism, persons are incorporated into the community of faith. Through regular celebration of Holy Communion, we testify to the risen Christ and are strengthened for discipleship.
Mission of the Church
We declare and communicate that all people matter to God. All baptized Christians share responsibility for building up the church and reaching the world through mission and service. Persons unaffiliated with any Christian church are critical to our mission.
Basic Rules
In our ministry, we aim 1) to do no harm, 2) do good in every way possible, and
3) participate in the ordinances of God such as corporate worship, reading and studying of Scripture, prayer, and Holy Communion.
